Life of the Church

*Call to Worship                                                       Excerpts from Psalm 63:1-7

Leader: God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

People: Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

Leader: I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call your name.

People: For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy!

*Hymn           “Come Sinners, Come to the Gospel Feast ”         UMH #339

Morning Prayer In Unison

Holy God, we have come this day to learn about what you expect of us. Sometimes we really don’t want to know what you want. We are afraid to make the commitments you seek from us. But God, you are persistent. You will not let us off the hook so easily. But we have failed so many times in the past and we question how we can possibly serve now. Lord, open our hearts to receive your forgiveness and healing. Open our hearts to listen to you. Empower us so that we are ready to work with your through your Son, Jesus Christ for hope, peace, justice and love. Be with us, Lord. Help us to turn around, to see you, to serve you, to witness to your Love in a world that so desperately needs it. In Jesus’ holy name we pray. Amen.
